If There Were One Thing I Could Change About The World:

I would make it so that persons were only ever genuinely attracted or repulsed by personality rather than physicality because our society today places far too great an emphasis on image.

If I Were Stranded On An Island With Only One Meal to Eat, It Would Be:

Smoked salmon served over meatless red beans and rice; a side spinach salad; and a bottomless pitcher of ice cold Abita Light beer.

If I Could Go Viral On The Internet For One Thing, It Would Be:

The video of the time my beautiful girlfriend, Missy, & I went on safari & got surrounded by hungry ostriches... oh, and a camel actually started chewing on her hair. Sounds frightening, but was hilarious. That was easily one of my best days. :)

Most Looking Forward to in 2017:

Obtaining my masters degree, continuing to grow in my relationship (both with God & girlfriend), publishing more exciting pieces, & traveling and/or relocating.

Additional Interesting Fact:

I've published 4 books to date, one of which is a textbook entitled, "Sport & the Spiritual Life: The Integration of Playing & Praying" (Order of St. Benedict, 2013), which was recently nominated for a 2017 Illumination Christian Book Award Medal in the Christian Thought Category.

My personal blog, I like to discuss relevant, sometimes controversial topics, and I attempt to do so fearlessly

Name:

Lauren Jeu

Year:

Senior

Program of Study:

School of Sciences

Undergraduate Major:

Natural Science with minors in graphic design and visual arts

Hometown:

Memphis, TN

If There Were One Thing I Could Change About The World:

That people would respect the arts more and understand that without it, our world would be incredibly boring.

If I Were Stranded On An Island With Only One Meal to Eat, It Would Be:

Rack of lamb with maple glazed Brussel sprouts.

If I Could Go Viral On The Internet For One Thing, It Would Be:

I guess one of my art pieces or video edits.

Most Looking Forward to in 2017:

Graduation! And my annual trip to San Diego Comic-Con in July

Additional Interesting Fact:

A lot of people think I'm an extrovert because I'm really involved on campus and talk to just about anyone but I'm actually an introvert. After big events with talking to lots of people, I'm exhausted and if I have the option to sit at home in my pajamas and watch TV, I will pick it over going out.

The Galleon is curated and managed by Christian Brothers University, a Memphis-based university founded in the Lasallian tradition (a sect within the Catholic faith). Part of our founding mission is to uphold respect for all persons-regardless of political, religious, or social beliefs. As an institution, we take no stand on political matters; to do so would undermine our commitment to intellectual inquiry and thoughtful response to events taking place in our World by members of the CBU community.
