Week / End 2.19.16

In case you haven't looked at the Memphis forecast, this weekend is slated to be a warm reprise from the frigid February weather. While there are plenty of activities in Memphis to keep you occupied, we've compiled an additional list of CBU-related events happening on campus to consider. Then again, with Spring TV programming beginning to come out in full swing, we'd understand if you're privy to the great indoors and a healthy dose of Netflix....your call.

Anyway, here's the Galleon's Week / End picks for this lovely weekend:

Friday, February 19 — Casino Night with the Men of TKE

Do you enjoy the company of Lady Luck and trying your hand at a little Blackjack or Poker? How about raising money for the kids at St. Jude's Research Hospital? Well, get ready for this, you get to do both on Friday Evening at Tau Kappa Epsilon's annual Casino Night! The event is FREE for your first 10 chips, and you can earn additional chips by donating $5 to St. Jude. You can purchase a raffle ticket with 10 chips that will enter you into the drawing for a pair of Beats Solo HD headphones, a $50 Kroger gas card, or a $25 Subway gift card! In addition, we will be serving free food and drink (including Chipotle and Chick-Fil-A). Who doesn't like free stuff?

Fri, Feb 19 | 8-10pm | Alfonso Dining Hall

Memphis City Football Club Scrimmage

This year Memphis will join other cities around the country to participate in the National Premier Soccer League, and they're kicking off their season with a scrimmage match at CBU! On Saturday fans can come and enjoy reasonably priced food catered by LB’s Butcher Shop. Seating will be limited so feel free to bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Those driving can park across central from the CBU campus. Season ticket holders can pick up scarves and anyone can buy merchandise during the tryout. They’ll also give a first look of some of the players hoping to make the team. Prizes and other free stuff will be given out during the game, so if you're looking for a way to get outside and enjoy the weather while watching some sports, this is for you!

The Galleon is curated and managed by Christian Brothers University, a Memphis-based university founded in the Lasallian tradition (a sect within the Catholic faith). Part of our founding mission is to uphold respect for all persons-regardless of political, religious, or social beliefs. As an institution, we take no stand on political matters; to do so would undermine our commitment to intellectual inquiry and thoughtful response to events taking place in our World by members of the CBU community.
